The location for our MS-expedition to JP41UA was the Glenna cottage site on the southern slope of the Synnfjell mountain range. The altitude was 935 m asl, with a good take-off in most directions. The equipmant was a FT225RD with MuTek-front-end, PA 2 x 4CX250B running at 1 kW, 17-element-F9FT on 8m-mast, DTR, ETM4C and ETM9C keyers. The gear worked fine but without extra preamplifier we were possibly a little on the deaf side.
The maximum of the shower occurred from 03-10 UTC on August 12, with a very steep rise. A second maximum lasted from the late evening of August 12 to about 10 UTC on August 13. The prediction by OH5IY's MS-Soft 4.3f was once again correct.
We were very satisfied with the number of contacts on 2m. We made 130 complete MS-QSOs, thereof 55 on random SSB during the shower peak. Despite the good take-off we didn't work many stations at distances above 1900 km. ODX was F6DRO with 2022 km. At times there were enormous pile-ups on our frequency, both in SSB and CW. In was very difficult to listen for our sked-partners through the QRM. In some cases we called them only for 2-4 periods or continued calling CQ, hoping that they would call us anyway.
Our landlord Per-Fridthjof generously tolerated the little RFI we were causing to some of his electrical equipment. He even looks forward to further HAM-radio activities and welcomes all radio amateurs (Glenna Hoyfjellsenter, phone +47-61121000). We are grateful to our families, who not just accepted the mental absence (hi) of us OMs from normal life, but even actively supported the trip.
